    Beginners Course

    If your looking to start archery and wish to do the beginners course which you must do if you wish to join any archery club, then please click on the link button below "Go on waiting list" and we will now add you to the waiting list." 


    Please be advised : 


     Coaches in the club give up their time on a voluntary basis, so they have to find the time around other commitments, so please be patiant with us when it comes to course dates

    Just some of the things our course will cover, but not limited to :

    • Equipment set up for each person taking part in the course (We supply all necessary equipment)
    • Introduction to archery and our club 
    • How to warm up 
    • Different bow types
    • Correct shooting technique
    • General Health and Safety
    • How to shoot safety including etiquette on and around the shooting line
    • How to correctly score your shooting
    • Meet some of the current club members for Q&A during breaks from shooting
    • Have Fun


    • Once you have completed both sessions you will be issued with a Certificate of Competence 
    • Anyone holding a Certificate of Competence are welcome to join West Essex Bowmen

    If you want to join us

    After you have completed a Beginners Course

    either  with us or somewhere else. 

    (Certificate of Competencey will be requested)


    If you decide you want to Join West Essex Bowmen, you will have full access to our field 365 days of the year, from 8am til dusk so you can usually shoot when ever you want,  Junior members under the age of 18 can not shoot alone, they must be supervised by another member of the club who is also a member of Archery GB and a second adult must be present at all times, the second adult  can be a non archer who acts as a lookout. 


    You may see sometimes updates on the club Facebook page or Website Calender giving times and dates for Competitions or field maintenance such as grass cutting or line painting or hole filling, but you will be given a date and how long the work will take. feel free to give a hand if your able to


    If you drive to the field then you will need to be aware of the Country Park opening times and more importantly the closing times so you will be able to get out before the park  closes
