West Essex Bowmen - Beginners Course
Are you looking at taking up the sport of archery ?
Before you can join any archery club in the United Kingdom you must complete a beginners course, and recieve a Certificate of Competence
If you want to be added to the waiting list you are more than welcome when we get enough people we will contact everyone on the list and arrange the next date for the course
Courses will usually be held on a Saturday or a Sunday
And will start at 9am and finish at 3pm
Course Cost
The course will last 6 hours over 1 day
We recommend you bring a drink & food as we have a break during course - there is a cafe on site if you prefer
Adult - 18 yrs and over
£ 50.00
Junior - 17 yrs and under
£ 30.00
Course Equipment
£ - FREE
We supply all equipment for the course free of charge
All costs go back into the club, to be able to supply equipment and maintain the field
Course Content

- Equipment set up for each person taking part in the course
(We supply all necessary equipment)
- Introduction to archery and our club
- How to warm up
- Different bow types
- What bow type may suit you
- Correct shooting technique
- General Health and Safety
- How to shooting safety including etiquette on and around the shooting line
- How to correctly score
- Meet some of the current club members for Q&A during breaks from shooting
- AND MUCH MORE
- and above all. its about having fun

If you want to join us
Anyone that has a the Certificate for completing a beginners course from us or from another club, are free to join our club. please contact the membership secretary and application form will be sent out.
If you decide to Join West Essex Bowmen, you will have full access to our field 365 days of the year, from 8 am til dusk so you can usually shoot when ever you want, Junior members under the age of 18 can not shoot alone, they must be supervised by another member of the club who is also a member of Archery GB and a second adult from the family or friend must be present at all times, the second adult can be a non archer who acts as a lookout for the junior member as part of our Child Protection Policy.
You may see sometimes updates on the club Facebook page or Website Calender giving times and dates for Competitions or field maintenance such as grass cutting or line painting or hole filling, but you will be given a date and how long the work will take. feel free to give a hand if your able to
If you drive to the field then you will need to be aware of the Country Park opening times and more importantly the closing times so you will be able to get out before the park closes
